IGF-1LR3 1
IGF-1 LR3 (Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 Long Arg3) is a synthetic, highly potent analogue of human IGF-1. While native IGF-1 consists of 70 amino acids, IGF-1 LR3 is modified with an added 13-amino-acid N-terminal extension and a substitution of Arginine for Glutamic acid at position 3.
These molecular modifications give IGF-1 LR3 a significantly extended active half-life compared to standard IGF-1, making it one of the most studied anabolic peptides for tissue growth and hyperplasia.
What Makes "Long R3" Different?
Native IGF-1 produced in the body is quickly bound and neutralized by IGF Binding Proteins (IGFBP), resulting in a brief active half-life of roughly 20 to 30 minutes.
1. Evasion of Binding Proteins: The structural modifications in IGF-1 LR3 drastically reduce its affinity for IGFBPs.
2. Extended Half-Life: Because it floats freely without being deactivated by binding proteins, its biological half-life stretches to 20–30 hours.
3. Systemic Potency: This extended half-life allows the peptide to circulate systemically, continually binding to cell surface IGF-1 receptors throughout the body.
