KPV 10

KPV is a potent synthetic tripeptide (Lysine-Proline-Valine) representing the C-terminal fragment of the naturally occurring peptide hormone \alpha-MSH (\alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone).

Despite consisting of only three amino acids, KPV retains the powerful anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties of full-length \alpha-MSH, but without activating melanocortin receptors (meaning it produces zero skin tanning or pigmentation effects).

Primary Key Mechanisms

 Inhibition of NF-\kappaB: KPV enters cells and prevents the translocation of Nuclear Factor kappa B (NF-\kappaB) into the nucleus. Because NF-\kappaB is the master switch for inflammatory signaling, blocking it directly suppresses the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines (such as IL-1$\beta$, IL-6, and TNF-\alpha).

 Direct Antimicrobial Activity: Demonstrates intrinsic antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antifungal properties—particularly against pathogens like Candida albicans and Staphylococcus aureus—by disrupting microbial cell membranes.

 Wound Healing & Anti-Fibrotic Effects: Regulates collagen production in dermal and mucosal wounds, promoting tissue repair while reducing the formation of thick, fibrotic scar tissue.

 Gastrointestinal Epithelial Preservation: Protects and repairs the tight junctions in the intestinal mucosa, reducing intestinal permeability ("leaky gut") and calming mucosal inflammation.
