KPV is a potent synthetic tripeptide (Lysine-Proline-Valine) representing the C-terminal fragment of the naturally occurring peptide hormone \alpha-MSH (\alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone).
Despite consisting of only three amino acids, KPV retains the powerful anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties of full-length \alpha-MSH, but without activating melanocortin receptors (meaning it produces zero skin tanning or pigmentation effects).
